Having suffered the existence of a disrupted childhood in London during World War Two I entered the commercial world at the ripe old age of 16 in my father’s construction company working on war damage repairs and new builds. Nothing like starting from scratch.
Apart from 2 Years fighting in Naafi Queues in the REME I emerged as a battered but eager potential engineer intent on changing the world.
Periods over the years 1953 to 1980 were enjoyed working for companies such as Brightside, Ellis mechanical, Sturtevant, Drake and Scull, Babcocks at senior management level on mechanical services and air conditioning design and installs throughout the UK, Middle East and West Indies and the intricacies these far flung projects can develop.
My first plastics project was in Little Aden where all the chilled water distribution was using PVC piping buried in the desert sand in 1960. The local animal life enjoyed that.
From 1981 to the present day all my work has been involved in the application of many leading companies plastic materials in such projects as:
- the Albert hall
- Defra laboratories
- Hilton and Marriott hotels in both the UK and overseas
- Hilton and Phoenicia hotels in Malta
- hotels in Libya
- hospitals, care homes and numerous schools and universities and airports in the UK
Installed services have included:
- in-ground distribution
- high temperature
I founded Aquatherm UK sales Ltd in 2001 and ran the company until taken over by Ormandy in 2009.
I am intent on passing the knowledge I have gained from these years in the industry to the trade and this company is my vehicle for trying to achieve that result.
